After almost 18 months of Covid, the 14th and 26th Scouts and Explorers have finally been able to enjoy a full weekend of camp in tents!
We cycled to Copley in St Ives, and learnt various survival skills such as making fish traps, gutting a fish, water filtration, pioneering, backwoods cooking etc. Our Scouts had lots of fun this weekend and thanks must go to all the Leaders who made this event possible!
Testing the rope bridge!
Testing the rope bridge!
Backwoods cooking for lunch – baked mackerel, sea bass, camerbert cheese, and tiger bread!
Learning how to gut a fish for lunch.
Making a simple fish trap.
Planning for the cooking competition.
Patrol cooking breakfast in their dining shelter.
Lunch before cycling back to Cambridge.
Water filters made from natural material (apart from the bottle). The water looks so much clearer after going through the filter. The unfiltered water was a rather horrible solution concocted by the other patrol.
