Scouts celebrate Chinese New Year
Last Friday our Scouts celebrated Chinese New Year with lots of traditional Chinese games, food and calligraphy. They even built giant dragons and raced against other Patrols!
Last Friday our Scouts celebrated Chinese New Year with lots of traditional Chinese games, food and calligraphy. They even built giant dragons and raced against other Patrols!
This week has seen the 14th Beavers and Cubs celebrate Chinese New Year by making traditional Chinese lanterns, learning Chinese calligraphy and zodiacs, trying Chinese New Year pudding and sweets etc. They even got a red pocket to take home, as a symbol of blessing from the Leaders!
The 14th and 26th Scouts went to the Peak District last weekend and conducted some expeditions which will go towards their Expedition Challenge Awards. The 14th and 26th Cambridge Scouts joined forces this summer and spent 2 weeks in Guernsey. We visited many tourist attractions, including Castle Cornet, Underground Military Museum, German Underground Hospital, Aquarium, Diamond Museum, candle making and numerous beautiful beaches. The 14th Scouts went to Copley Scouting Centre on March 24-26 for a weekend of first aid training. Apart from first aid, we had lots of fun with the rope bridge we built, backwoods cooking, whittlting, wide games (capture the flag), shelter building, toasting marshmallows at the campfire and etc. All Scouts passed a theory test […]
All our Scouts chose and worked on an activity badge this term. The badges on offer include Chef, DIY, Electronics and Photography. Some of them cooked and served a 3-course meal whilst the others tried out soldering and building complicated electronic gadgets, and taking some awesome pictures!
